1st CNG refuelling station on a postal site

On 2 March, Viapost, the logistics subsidiary of La Poste, and Engie Solutions inaugurated a natural gas vehicle (NGV) filling station in Chelles (Seine-et-Marne), designed to fuel the vehicles of their transport service providers. The station delivers compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG).

It is the first CNG refuelling station on a postal site. It was inaugurated on 2 March by Arnaud Saint Guilhem, CEO of Viapost, and Jean-Baptiste Furia, CEO of GNVert, the sustainable mobility offer developed by Engie Solutions.

Engie Solutions has purchased a parcel of land located on the edge of the Viapost logistics platform, directly adjacent to the public highway, in order to supply CNG to the greatest number of users.

With a surface area of 1,500 m², the station is equipped with two terminals. One supplies LNG, ideal for long distances, the other CNG, preferred for short trips.

Continuous opening

The facility is open 24/7 to all types of vehicles, light and heavy, with a payment card provided by Engie Solutions. Under this partnership, preferential rates will be offered to Viapost's carriers.

Built and operated by Engie Solutions, the Chelles station will strengthen the network of public CNG-green stations in France, which currently consists of some 60 facilities. "A pioneer in natural gas and biogas deployment solutions in France for the past 20 years, our teams support local authorities and companies in the decarbonisation of mobility," explains Jean-Baptiste Furia.

For its part, Viapost plans to install other stations at key La Poste or Viapost sites in France. ”Green mobility is one of the strategic challenges facing Viapost and La Poste Group's transport department in the coming years," concludes Arnaud Saint Guilhem. Beyond this first station, we intend to pursue our commitment through the development of a whole network of CNG stations in France, taking advantage of the network of postal sites.
