In the past, maintenance in the logistics industry was limited to intervening in the event of breakdowns. With the increasing mechanization of logistics, the growing expectations of customers and the introduction of new technologies within the platforms, the performance and availability of equipment is now a major issue when it comes to competitiveness.

Thus, the role of industrial maintenance has become strategic and now has a real impact on productivity.

Afnor maintenance levels

One of the important criteria in the choice of a maintenance partner is its positioning in relation to the Afnor standard. This standard establishes 5 levels, defined according to technical skills, intervention methods, documentation associated with monitoring and auditing, as well as the equipment used.

In terms of technical skills, Viaposte's technicians can intervene:

When it comes to intervention methods,

Viaposte carries out corrective and preventive tasks. More specifically on preventive maintenance, the inspections concern both sensory visits (visual and sound inspections), and predictive actions of temperature and intensity measurement. These are planned periodically or conditionally.

The technicians can be permanently located on the customer's site (posted team), alternate between regular and occasional interventions (partial presence) or simply intervene on demand (on call or after sending a quote).

 

In addition to the traditional tools

Used in maintenance workshops, Viaposte uses profibus-type network diagnostic systems to link all the equipment on a platform, as well as thermal cameras and oil analysis tools.

Today, thanks to the efforts made over the last three years, Viaposte is positioned at level 4 of the Afnor standard; level 5 is generally reserved for suppliers holding technical patents.

The use of CMMS in the maintenance activity

Viaposte uses different CMMS* systems to meet several objectives:

  • Know and identify the equipment to be maintained
  • Have an up-to-date maintenance logbook with a traceability of the history of maintenance operations
  • Centralize technical documentation
  • Define the periodic maintenance to be carried out: preventive maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, checks, quality control, regulatory inspections
  • Coordinate the work of internal (technicians) and external (subcontractors, manufacturers, inspection offices, etc.) parties
  • Manage spare parts stock and trigger replenishment alert thresholds to avoid shortages
  • Measure, analyse and optimise maintenance activity: working hours, costs and savings generated, equipment performance and team responsiveness.

 

The digitalisation of industrial maintenance

The industrial maintenance activity also benefits from the process of digitalization to gain in flexibility and reactivity. The first challenge of this digitalization is the continuous collection of data on equipment and tools. This data is then transmitted in real time to the technicians on a mobile device that accompanies them during their work.

Digital technology also makes it possible to build up archives (IoT), to identify similar situations (e.g. peak production) and to see what solutions have been implemented and whether they have proved effective.

Finally, Viaposte offers, with V-MAINTENANCE, an audit, diagnostic and problem analysis service by a team of technical experts. They rely on data collected from equipment and CMMS systems, among other things.
