Since 6 December, Viaposte has been experimenting for a fortnight with transporting flows in 100% electric trucks.

A global decarbonisation approach

This experiment is part of Viaposte's overall commitment to decarbonising the transport of its customers' flows by testing new energies.

After the launch of its first CNG station in early 2021 in partnership with Engie, Viaposte is continuing its approach by testing electric transport.

The test is taking place in a suburban area of Ile-de-France, in partnership with the haulier Jacky Perrenot and with a Renault Trucks truck, over a total distance of 120 km.

The objective of this experiment

For Viaposte, it aims to measure:

  • The technical capacities of the battery: autonomy, consumption according to the load, the average speed and the weather, the charging time, etc.
  • The costs associated with the installation of charging stations

The environmental benefits of electric transport

The transport of flows by electric heavy goods vehicles makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions per kilometre by 88% compared to diesel; and to significantly reduce emissions of atmospheric pollutants.

These experiments are a way for us to find the best solutions for implementing a more virtuous form of transport, which is committed to a genuine environmental approach while taking into account our economic challenges," says Christophe Baboin, Managing Director of Viaposte's Transport BU.
